Modern Slavery Act 2020


This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Ravensburger has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place within our business and supply chain.

Modern slavery encompasses among others slavery, servitude, child labour, forced labour and human trafficking. Ravensburger has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place as a safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

Our business

Ravensburger AG is an international corporate group and one of the leading manufacturers of games, puzzles and toys in Europe. Ravensburger Ltd is the local sales organization for Great Britain and Ireland and operates out of its office in Bicester, Oxfordshire, 3rd party Warehouse in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire. Ravensburger manufactures the largest part of its products in its own factories in Germany and the Czech Republic. Only a very small part of our products are obtained from China.

Our Policies

Ravensburger is a member of Sedex, a global non-profit organisation dedicated to driving improvements in ethical and responsible business practices. The Sedex company reference number is ZC1023586. Through this membership Ravensburger has access to the Sedex online platform where suppliers make available data regarding self-assessment questionnaires and ethical audits as well as reports on non-conformities with the applicable policies. In addition, Sedex provides a risk assessment tool to evaluate the risk profile of suppliers in the area of sourcing.

Although Ravensburger obtains only a small portion of its goods from China, we attach great value to maintaining high standards. Therefore, Ravensburger works with a limited number of reliable suppliers in China who have been certified with the ICTI (International Council of Toy Industries) Standard, a certificate specially developed for and internationally recognized in the toy industry. ICTI is the international umbrella organisation for the toy industry that, among others, develops and promotes ethical and safe practices as well as a healthy work environment in the toy industry. These standards are formulated into the ICTI Code, a code of behaviour for companies.

The aim of this code is to guarantee consumers that toys are produced in a safe and humane environment. Suppliers that intend to be certified by this codex must, for example, verify the following:

- compliance with the legal regulation for wages, labour time and over time no use of child or forced labour
- confirm that a healthy work environment with sanitary facilities is available
- existence of escape routes in the case of an emergency
- ensure that safety measures regulated by law are used on all machines

All of our suppliers have successfully completed the ICTI audit process lasting several days which consists of employee as well as management questioning from an independent institute. These inspections are repeated regularly so that the certificate remains valid.

In addition to the certification through independent institutes, Ravensburger also inspects the Chinese suppliers through their own organisations in Hong Kong and China.

Furthermore, Ravensburger is a participant of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), a qualification and audit system aimed at applying social standards to sub-contractors. The company identification number is 15073. The system contains, among others, obligations such as compliance with national and international legislation, the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining, prohibition of discrimination, the obligation to pay, or exceed, the legal minimum wage as well as a ban on child labour and forced labour.

These commitments are laid down as well in our Code of Conduct which expressly addresses the issues of responsible production and fair treatment and additionally obliges Ravensburger and its business partners to observe the e standards and principles.

Against this background Ravensburger will not knowingly support and/or conduct business with any partners who are involved in modern slavery. Should we discover that any of our business partners does not comply with the Ravensburger Code of Conduct and/or the standards and principles mentioned above, we reserve the right to take appropriate actions against such misconduct.
